Learning Contracts
At SUNY Empire, students and mentors work together to design studies which meet the student’s goals (subject to the normal constraints of an academic study). Some studies are fairly straightforward and need little if any customization to work well for most students (e.g., Introduction to Economics); other areas of study are so varied that each contract must be negotiated individually (e.g. Internet Studies); and still other studies fall somewhere in between (e.g., Legal Issues in Cyberspace).
This section of my website contains both sample contracts and a framework for conversations with students to design individual contracts. I’ve included a range of topics and samples to give you some information with which to decide whether a conversation might be useful; please think of this site as a starting point rather than a solution.
